MSNBC is reporting that a ceasefire proposal supported by the US and France will be put up to a vote within the hour. Israel has called the proposal "good."

Hopefully this may bring and end to the terrible strife and fighting in the region. There aren't very many details availabe yet as to what's in the proposal, or whether Lebanon has signed on.

UPDATE Apparently Israel has agreed to compromise and support a UN force operating on a less robust set of Rules of Engagement than they previously desired. The ceasefire proposal will be voted on whther or not Israel and Lebanon agree. If the UN passes this proposal, and Israel signs on, the pressure will be strong on Lebanon to agree as well.

Update2- Lebanon's Prime Minister is said to be studying the plan with other officials, so they haven't rejected it outright. It would create a 400 square mile zone from which Hezbollah would be banned. The area would be patrolled by the Lebanese army and a UN force probably from France and Turkey. CNN
